I swore I wouldn’t do this. I swore I wouldn’t post batch after batch of baby pictures. I’ve always been annoyed by people that send out more than one picture of their newborns.
Babies are just not interesting to look at. They are often not even pleasant to look at. So sending out one picture is understandable, but two is pushing it. I don’t even want to count how many I’ve posted.
But several things have happened that I didn’t expect:
- People ask me for pictures of the baby.
- I realized that posting the pictures here is better than clogging people’s in boxes with e-mail.
- We have an incredibly cute baby — the kind of baby that makes looking at other babies painful.
Ellen — or “Frog” as we tend to call her, is four weeks old today, and  is doing quite well. She’s gotten over her cold (which was not pleasant for any of us) and is a ravenous milk consumer and frequent sleeper. She’s getting better and better at sleeping during the night, sometimes sleeping for five or six hours in a stretch.Â
She’s also gotten over her hatred of being changed and getting dressed. Now she actually seems to enjoy it. Does the baby in the pictures look like she’s unhappy? Nope, beause it’s changin’ time.

Dear Adam,
Ellen is so cute I want to hold her. She is smiling she seems very pleased with herself or you or the whole world. I like getting the pictures.
You’re right, she is INCREDIBLY cute! Thanks for the pix.
We call Heidi “Bug.”
